Non-statutory consultation to expand Stowmarket High School

Our Consultation, between 14 January 2025 to 27 January 2025, on a proposal to expand Stowmarket High School.

Suffolk County Council (SCC) is consulting on a proposal to expand Stowmarket High School. The proposal includes a standalone teaching block to the west of the main building, with reconfigurations to rooms within the main building and former sixth-form building. The increase in capacity of the school is from 900 to 1,200 students.  SCC have been working closely with the leadership of the school and Concertus Design & Property to design the new facilities. The target date for use is September 2026.

A drop-in session will be held at the current school on Monday 20 January 2025, from 3.30pm – 5.30pm where plans will be displayed and representatives from SCC, Concertus and the school will be available to discuss the proposal and answer questions. If you do not have access to the internet, draft plans will also be displayed on the boundary fence of the school on both Onehouse Road and Gainsborough Road.

This non-statutory pre-application planning consultation will enable us to gather the views of parents and residents prior to the submission of the planning application. It does not affect the right to comment on the proposals during the statutory planning consultation process.
