Request a Harmful Sexual Behaviour consultation

We provide a consultation service for Harmful Sexual Behaviour (HSB) providing advice, assessment and intervention.

Professionals with concerns about a child’s harmful sexual behaviour who require a consultation with Suffolk County Council (SCC) Children and Young People's (CYP) Harmful Sexual Behaviour (HSB) Team, can now request this via the Suffolk Children and Young People's Portal, under the ‘Professionals’ section.

Definition of HSB: "Sexual behaviours expressed by children and young people under the age of 18 years old that are developmentally inappropriate, may be harmful towards self or others, or be abusive towards another child, young person or adult." (Hackett, 2014).

It is important that sexual behaviours displayed by children and young people are recognised at the earliest opportunity and identified correctly. All children have a healthy sexual developmental pathway and this needs to be recognised in order to understand when sexual behaviour may be inappropriate or harmful for their age and stage of development so the child can be properly supported.

Please refer to Identifying Harmful Sexual Behaviours - Suffolk County Council to aid completion of the HSB consultation request.

Only request a HSB consultation once the child's parent/carer has provided consent.

If you have access to SCC's Liquid Logic and the child/young person has a record on there, please use the Liquid Logic Harmful Sexual Behaviour Request and Consultation Form, rather than this Portal Form.
