First look at the new ceremony room in Sudbury

Couples who opt for a register office ceremony in Sudbury are now tying the knot in a new ceremony room within Sudbury’s Town Hall.

All Register Office ceremonies taking place at Sudbury Town Hall will now take place in the Mayor’s Parlour, previously The Assembly Rooms.

Overlooking the market square, the Mayor’s Parlour is a beautiful space for couples to get married or to form a Civil Partnership. The new room’s ground floor location offers improved access for guests and the smaller space offers couples a much more bespoke and intimate experience than the larger Assembly Rooms.

I would like to thank the team at Sudbury Town Council for the opportunity and for facilitating our move to the Mayor’s Parlour. We are really pleased to be able to offer couples this much more personal ceremony space within Sudbury Town Hall.

The Mayor’s Parlour offers seating for 28 guests plus the couple and a photographer or videographer.

The Mayor’s Parlour and the classic Greek style of the Town Hall provide the perfect setting for these very special occasions and are beautiful backdrops for photos. There is also a fantastic choice of hospitality venues nearby that couples could choose for their receptions and celebrations.

The first Wedding Ceremony in the Mayor’s Parlour took place on Saturday 25 February.

Blanka and Michael Roberts, the first couple to tie the knot at the Mayor’s Parlour said:

We were honoured when we learned that we would be the first couple to be married in the Mayor's Parlour. It's a lovely space and has been beautifully done out with splendid artwork on the walls, too. One painting in particular, The Moorhen's Nest, highlighted the importance of supporting each other, which really made us smile and seemed very fitting for a marriage! Everyone at the Town Hall was so kind and we couldn't have wished for a nicer venue for our special day.
