Culture project fund supporting communities

Reaching people and communities that will benefit from cultural activity

We use a wide range of tools to tell us about the needs of people and communities across Suffolk. These tools are open to everyone to use.

We ask all applicants to the culture project fund’s large and medium grants to use these tools when developing a culture project.

The application form asks you to tell us what tools you have used to identify the needs of the people or community you are planning to work with. We need you to tell us how the tools have helped you shape and develop your ideas.

We advise you to use the tools on our Healthy Suffolk website. These are easy to use and will ensure that we understand your planning and the people and communities you work with.

Tools we recommend

Our Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA)

This is a key document that gives you detailed information about the health needs of Suffolk people. You will find the JSNA reports on a range of health needs.

Community mapping tools

You can use this tool to look at village level data.

The Suffolk Observatory contains all of Suffolk’s vital statistics. It is the one-stop-shop for data, statistics and reports all about Suffolk provided by a variety of organisations.

The document below is of a map of Suffolk that shows a summary of need in neighbourhoods across Suffolk.

Place based needs assessment

Place Based Needs Assessments (PBNA) are developed to provide information about the needs of a population within a specific place. The PBNAs have interactive dashboards so you are able to explore data relevant to your needs.
