Road building and highway maintenance - level 2 course

Construction Skills People are offering a course in road building and highway maintenance, as part of skills bootcamps.

This course covers:

Part A: enrolment, induction, planning and initial training

  • Health and safety in construction
  • Environmental awareness and carbon footprint
  • Mental health awareness

Part B: new road and streetworks units including

  • location and avoidance of underground services
  • signing, lighting and guarding
  • excavation in the highway
  • re-instatement and compaction of backfill materials
  • Re-instatement and compaction of sub-base and base non-bituminous materials
  • Re-instatement and compaction in cold lay
  • Re-instatement of modular services and concrete footways

Part C: NPORS and CPCS plant training

  • Ride on roller
