Admissions to schools in Suffolk for the 2026/2027 school year

Key things you need to know about applying for a school place for the 2026/2027 school year.

Each year, we provide important information to give you the best possible chance of securing a school place for your child at one of your preferred schools. Further information will be available from 12 September 2025.

Admission arrangements to community and voluntary controlled schools

Suffolk County Council consulted on the admission arrangements for the 2025/2026 school year and as there are no changes proposed for the 2026/2027 school year, we are not required to carry out a consultation in line with the School Admissions Code.

Even though there have been no changes, these admission arrangements still need to be formally agreed at Suffolk County Council’s Cabinet meeting on 28 January 2025. They will be published here after that date.

Admission arrangements to voluntary aided, free schools and academies

The governing body or academy trust of voluntary aided, free schools and academies are responsible for admissions to their schools. If you want to view the arrangements for these schools, you should contact the school directly.

Co-ordinated Admissions Scheme for Schools in Suffolk for the 2026/2027 school year

The Co-ordinated Admissions Scheme explains how Suffolk County Council co-ordinates admission arrangements for the normal year of intake for all mainstream schools in Suffolk and with other neighbouring authorities.

There have not been any substantial changes to the Scheme since it was consulted on for the 2022/2023 school year, therefore there has been no requirement to consult on these arrangements.
