Lionlink

Lionlink is a 1.8GW Multi-Purpose Interconnector (MPI) which will create a new electricity link between the UK and the Netherlands.

Suffolk County Council is a statutory consultee, and a decision would ultimately be taken by the relevant Secretary of State, if an application for development consent is submitted.

The proposals have been subject to a non-statutory consultation, held by National Grid between the 24 October 2022 and 18 December 2022.

The project will include the construction of a converter station, onshore direct current (HVDC) and alternating current (HVAC) cables and a transition bay. The onshore AC cables will connect the converter station to the consented but as yet unbuilt National Grid substation in Friston, Suffolk.
