Suffolk’s local transport plan

Our plan to improve how people travel around Suffolk.

Our local transport plan has recently been updated to set out our vision for the transport network up to 2040. It provides the context, policy and objectives to improve travel options for Suffolk’s residents and visitors.

Alongside this county-wide plan, we have produced fifteen area transport plans and a Suffolk local cycling and walking infrastructure plan. These plans outline how the local transport plan’s vision and objectives will be delivered, in some cases funded, in key locations across the county.

Following public consultation, the local transport plan and its associated plans have been reviewed and updated following feedback from members of the public and stakeholders. The plans will be discussed at Suffolk County Council’s cabinet meeting on 25 February 2025.

Cabinet members will consider the draft plans and decide whether or not to:

  • adopt the local transport plan as the council’s part 1 of the statutory requirement for a local transport plan.
  • adopt the 15 area transport plans as the council’s part 2 of the statutory requirement for a local transport plan.
  • adopt the Suffolk local cycling and walking infrastructure plan as the council’s contribution to the national cycling and walking investment strategy

Supporting the area transport plans is the Suffolk Local cycling and walking infrastructure plan.

Suffolk County Council’s cabinet meeting is on 25 February 2025.
