Non-statutory consultation to expand Thurston Church of England Primary Academy and Thurston Childcare

Suffolk County Council (SCC) is consulting on a proposal to expand Thurston Primary School. The proposal includes a standalone teaching block at the rear of the site plus an extension to the Pre-school. The increase in capacity of the school is from 420 to 630 students and the Pre-School from 30 to 60 students. SCC have been working closely with the leadership of the school and Concertus Design & Property to design the new facilities. Both the school and pre-school were originally master planned for such expansion. The target date for use is September 2026.

A drop-in session will be held at the current school on Wednesday 4 December, from 3.30pm – 7pm where plans will be displayed and representatives from SCC, Concertus and the school will be available to discuss the proposal and answer questions. If you do not have access to the internet, draft plans will also be displayed on the boundary fence of the current school in Pond Field Road.

This non-statutory pre-application planning consultation will enable us to gather the views of parents and residents prior to the submission of the planning application. It does not affect the right to comment on the proposals during the statutory planning consultation process.
